Campaigns and Advocacy

Campaigns and Advocacy FoE-Ghana has undertaken many successful campaigns aimed at drawing people's attention to critical environmental and social issues and seeking to change the views and positions of policy makers. We do this by using our resources to contribute to policy debates, offering alternatives to policy makers, academia and grassroots organisations based on our vision for sustainable and equitable development. Through this work, we bring about changes in policy, law and public opinion by challenging, persuading and putting pressure on key political and business decision-makers to adopt environmentally and socially equitable principles. We do this via grassroots public outreach, local actions, lobbying and the media.

Recent campaigns have targeted the West African Gas Pipeline Project, World Bank/International Monetary Fund's structural adjustment policies, mining in forest reserves in Ghana, the impacts of trade liberalisation by the World Trade Organisation, desertification, halting Chimpanzee (used in space exploration) export from the United States to Ghana, and the environmental and social impacts of war and illegal logging.
