FoE-Ghana recognizes that one of the best ways to conserve Ghana's biodiversity is to support the conservation of intact local forests such as Sacred Groves. These traditional conservation areas were set up by our ancestors for spiritual and conservation needs.
They now support a much larger variety of plants and animal life than surrounding areas, which have been vastly depleted by human activities. FoE-Ghana aims to encourage and support local communities to continue and strengthen their of sacred groves. Education is carried out into the practical uses of this forms of conservation and in some cases, alternative sources of resources are developed for the local people.
Also FoE-Ghana aims to facilitate cooperation between other organizations interested in Sacred Groves conservation.
FoE-Ghana also serves on the following National Committees; the National Forest Certification Committee, biosafety committee and the Biodiversity Strategy Action Planning committee.
